Grilling ribs can be an art and require a bit of finesse. It will be more difficult than throwing burgers

Slow is the operative word when cooking ribs and at a low temperature as well. When cooking on a gas grill be sure that it is to the lowest setting and keep a pan of water on the grill to add moisture while cooking. Smoker boxes can also be added to give them a smoky flavor.

When using a charcoal grill it will be necessary to bank coals to one side with a pan of water on the other. To add the smoky flavor using this type of grill just add some wood chips that have been soaked with water in with the coals. The wood chips will have to be added every couple of hours in order for the flavor to be cooked in.

The temperature inside the grill needs to be approximately two hundred and twenty-five degrees at all times while grilling. The important thing is to cook them indirectly so that they will not become dry. It will take several hours for ribs to completely cook this way.

When the ribs are done the meat should begin to separate from the bone. To save some time and for ribs that will be more tender, they can be precooked in either a slow cooker or boiled for approximately thirty minutes. There is a slight disadvantage with this because they tend not to hold smoke flavor as well when precooked. You can add moisture to the ribs while grilling by spraying them with a spray bottle of extremely thin barbecue sauce.
